Description & Learning objectives

Placement stability is crucial across all areas of children’s care, as it provides the consistent, secure relationships children need to heal, grow, and thrive. Frequent moves and disruptions can compound trauma, undermine trust, and negatively impact a child’s emotional, social, and developmental outcomes.

This course will look at how practitioners define placement stability and its significance to the life of looked after children. It will look at the impact of placement disruption alongside the key factors that contribute to children’s placements breaking down and how these can be mitigated.  It will also examine the importance of relationships and why placement matching is vital in promoting stability.
